2 CAPSICUM(GREEN BELL PEPPER) CHUTNEY

This is recipe from my mom, who always used to try different kinds of chutneys or thokku without using coconut. She tried this and told us about it. I too tried and we all liked a lot. Could not even make out that it was capscicum.

Capsicum/Green bell pepper - 1 large or 2 medium
Red/green chillies - 4

Tamarind - small marble
size
Ingu/hing - little
Garlic - 2 (optional)
Channa Dhal -2 to 3 tbsp
Salt as needed
Oil - 1 1/2 tbsp
Can use few mint or coriander leaves

Tempering:-
Mustard seeds, urad dhal, curry leaves

In a kadai heat oil and fry channa dhal till they turn light brown...immediately add ingu, tamarind and red chillies...garlic(optional)...fry for a minute ...remove and keep aside.
In the same kadai add chopped capsicum and fry till they are cooked... can also add some mint leaves and or coriander leaves for good colour and flavor. Cool and grind both together with salt. Add the seasonings.

Goes well with all types of dosas/idlis ... this chutney is one of my mom's special. We just love this.
