2 CEREAL CHEVDA/ MIXTURE


This is one of my easiest and favourite snack which I have been doing often. But, mostly using my left over cereal. I used to get many trial boxes for my sons...which they would never try at all and that started me to make this instant mixture, which turned out to be real good and healthier too.

I have tried with mixes like cheerios, corn pops, cinnamon toast( lightly crushed)...So you can use any type of cereal as long as they are not too sweet.

For the above recipe I have used

Shredded wheat( original) - 2 cups
Rice crispies - 2 cups
Corn Flakes - 1 cup
Salt as needed
Chilli powder - 3/4 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Garlic - 5 pods ( do not remove skin )
Peanuts - 2 tbsp
Dalia split(pottu kadalai) - 2 tbsp
Curry leaves - few
Red chillies - 2 broken into half
Oil - 2 tbsp

Take a mixing bowl and first add shredded wheat...crush very well with hands...so they look just like thin sev....next add rice crispies and corn flakes....then add salt, turmeric and chilli powder and mix well..
Heat oil in a kadai and fry peanuts in medium flame till light brown...add it to the mixture( save the oil)....next in the same kadai add dalia split and saute for a minute...next add broken red chillies, crushed garlic and curry leaves...saute till garlic turns crispy and then add everything to the chevda/mixture and mix well...now enjoy your instant, easiest and healthy mixture.

It would be really nice if you could add calories and fat content of these recipes. In this day and age it is very important to have that information to be able to make healthy choices. Thanks
