0 SUNDAKKAI VATHAL KUZHAMBU

Sundakkai can be used to make vathal kuzhambu or you can just fry in oil...add salt and chilli powder and eat like other fried vathals along with rice. Sundakkai is a kind of berry that is dried ... found out that it is called as Turkey Berry.
This curry tastes good with rice and main thing the curry should reduce its volume and thicken up for best taste. My mom usually adds a tiny bit of jaggery...which I like too..but it is optional.

Sundakkai - a handful
Onion - 1
Tamarind - 1 marble sizw
Coconut grated - 3 tbsp
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Dhaniya powder - 1 tsp
Jeera powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - a pinch
Jaggery - 1 tbsp ( optional)
Salt as needed
Oil - 1 tbsp( can use gingelly oil for cooking or can pour it on top of the curry..which will give extra taste /flavor)

Variation:
Can use one tomato after frying onions..cooke till they are pulpy.

Heat oil in a kadai/pan and add onions...fry till golden brown...then add all the powders( can substitute with your home made curry powder)...mix well and add tamarind pulp...aloow it to get thicker and add coconut paste...add salt..reduce flame and cook till the raw smell leaves...add jaggery and sundakkai( fry sundakki in little oil till they are crisp and turn dark...do not over fry till black or they will turn bitter).
Instead of adding in the end..you can add in the beggining also before adding onions and follow the same procedure.
